Term 1 pt2 Youre Hired

Overview: Your school needs you! This term Year 6 will have the unique and exciting opportunity of immersing themselves into the grown-up world of employment! After being treated to an original cinematic experience within the classroom, where the staff of St Stephen’s advertises a variety of authentic job opportunities to be performed within the school, the children will be invited to apply and ultimately interview for a particular position of their choice.

Once the children have selected their job, they will then begin to write a persuasive speech, celebrating their qualities and skills and justifying their suitability for the role. Having perfected their ability to speak fluently and confidently through unique drama activities, the children will then experience just what it’s like to be interviewed for a real job by a staff member. Each child will be introduced to a range of ICT skills that they will utilize to produce their own presentations to support them during their respective interviews. The pupils will even learn how to talk about themselves in another language through our study of MFL and take a whistle-stop tour around some of the worst jobs in history like the dreaded medieval gong farmer! The children will be sure to emerge from this topic with a whole host of practical and reflective life skills that will undoubtedly develop their confidence and give them a unique taste of the ‘real world'.
