Yr 5 Term 3 2017 Space 001 001

Term three is characterised by dark mornings and early evenings, but it also gives us an opportunity to star gaze! During term three, year five will be studying one of the most popular, and eagerly awaited, topics of the year: space! We will be studying space as part of the National Curriculum Earth and Space unit, and are going to expand this theme across the curriculum.

It will give pupils an opportunity to learn about different non-fiction text genres in literacy, such as non-chronological reports and biographies. Pupils will spend the afternoon lessons next term learning about space in their science lessons. They will make a model space station in DT and create a space themed animation in their computing lessons. We will hold a star gazing evening at school, and will finish the topic with a space exhibition in the school hall where pupils will showcase the work that they have completed that term to parents.
