Winners of the cooking competition announced

  Cooking competition

The results of the cooking competition held last term are finally in. Children interested in participating were asked to bring in their own recipes and ingredients and to do their very best to impress our excellent kitchen staff here at St. Stephens Junior School. Winners from both the lower and upper school were selected and their winning dishes will be served to the whole school at a future date.

Congratulations to all chefs for their wonderful enthusiasm!

Pupils use of mobile phones and Share Aware

    share aware parents guide

Over Christmas there have been mobile phones as gifts to pupils and we have seen an increase in these here at school. In the interests of trying to help keep our children as safe online as possible, we'd like to share a few links to important information relevant to all parents and carers. The first is a link to the NSPCC's 'A parents guide to being Share Aware' which presents advice relating to information your child may be sharing online.

The second link leads to the Net Aware website, providing critical information on social media websites your children may be visiting. Net Aware highlights the different age restrictions of certain social media websites and apps, and provides feedback from children on what they like and don't like about them. It presents striking visual representations of whether reviewers think the sites and apps are appropriate for children or not and the respective risks involved. Please take a moment to visit this site and investigate a few of the popular social media sites.

The final link is to our mobile phone policy here at the school relating to children bringing them in and using them on site.

School Council hard at work

    IMG 1414

Members of the school council and the Year 6 Head Boy / Girl team helped clear litter around the school site today. Vigilant pupils noticed the increasing discarded cans, bottles and cigarette butts that were littering the main school entrance. Pupils suggested there is a termly site inspection to monitor this.

Whilst councillors were happy to clear up, we politely ask that everyone does their share, by putting litter in the bin.

Message for Christmas and the upcoming New Year

Well, Christmas is upon us and another term and year flies by. It has certainly been an exciting time for us at St. Stephen’s Junior this year. We have a new boiler with heating that is working! A really big thank you to the support from our parents and our local MP Rosie Duffield for the support she gave us with the Department of Education......Read the Headteachers full message HERE

A lively Christmas Fair

The Christmas Fair at St. Stephen's Junior was off to a flying start Friday afternoon, with all stalls set up rearing to go by 2pm. Shortly after opening, the queue at Santa's Grotto rapidly grew multiple pairs of arms and legs, while our enthusiastic choir entertained visitors with some heartfelt Christmas carols.
