Hosting lunch for our wonderful local community

CommunityLunch6July2017 1The 6th July saw us host yet another successful lunch for esteemed members of our local community. It was no ordinary event and followed with a little musical entertainment from our school choir, and solo instrumentals by talented children.

Special thanks to our guests for visiting with us, and amazing school council and excellent catering staff in our kitchen for serving up such excellent treats.

Beauty and the Beast leaps into our hearts

Wow! What a fantastic show! Congratulations to our brilliant Year 6 children for a thoroughly spellbinding performance of Beauty and the Beast! The level of talent and dedication from pupils was clear to see and the audience were utterly delighted on both evenings of the performance last week.

Kindle Celebration

DanFreedman2On Friday 9th June we welcomed Dan Freedman back to our school for a special Kindle Club celebration. We have built up a strong relationship with Dan since starting our Kindle Club back in 2015 when the boys began reading the Jamie Johnson series written by Dan.

He has shown a particular interest in our Kindle Club from the very beginning, inspiring the boys with their reading.

A bus floats in the Thames

Yesterday the 14th June saw a group of children from St. Stephen's Junior journey to London by train to embark on a tour of London on a very special bus.The bus was none other than a modified landing craft from World War 2, so while it looked like a bus and travelled on roads like a bus, and it was also a boat.

After an hour or so tour of London the children were treated to a boat ride on the Thames without even having to get off the bus. London was absolutely filled with tourists, and we're pretty sure we were a big tourist attraction ourselves in our funny looking boaty mcbusface. Jack Rose's musical performance to Years 5 & 6

Today pupils in Years 5 & 6 heard the musical talents of 15 year old Jack Rose and co-singer Zee with a captivating performance of popular tracks “Impossible” by James Arthur and “Supermarket flowers” by Ed Sheeran. Between the performances Jack and Zee spoke of their personal experiences of cyberbullying, discrimination and having their on line identity hacked.

The session then led on to the topic this week in school of British Values. Jack and Zee were amazed at our pupils knowledge and understanding saying “This is the first school we have been to where pupils knew all 4 British values and what they meant”. Pupils are keen to have them back and we are planning to book them once again next year.
