Pupil Powered e-Safety

  SID 2019a

This year for Safer Internet Day pupils heard from our Digital Leaders about the importance of consent online. Presentations to each year group and parents/carers highlighted the importance of talking to parents before downloading apps or games and being careful of signing up to Terms and Conditions without fully understanding them.

Some of our children provided a little feedback on the benefits of taking part in the Digital Leaders programme every Wednesday: Liam says “Being a digital Leader has helped me with real situations and my friends”, while Rosa reflects “It really makes me happy being able to help others”. Click on the LINK to learn a little more of what others have to say and some very important advice on choosing the right video games and apps for your children.

An amazing skiing adventure to Italy

Children from St. Stephen's Junior visited Macugnaga in Italy from the 27th January to the 1st February 2019 on the annual St. Stephen's Junior ski trip. Snow was far lighter than on our previous trips, but still provided for excellent skiing conditions on all slopes throughout the week.

Arriving at the hotel in Pecetto village early Sunday afternoon, children spent the following week skiing, ice-skating, visiting an old mine in the nearby village of Staffa, followed by an exhilirating ride up a cable car to the top of the mountain. There was a lot of cloud cover and snow higher up on the mountain this year, so views of the valleys were restricted, but the fresh air, powdery snow and tasty hot chocolate in the mountain-top restaurant made the trip extremely worthwhile. The group arrived back in Canterbury at around 8pm on Friday the 1st February after a smooth flight from Milan. What an adventure!

Year 5 student captures the super wolf blood moon

  Mon Jan19a

Lincoln, one of our enthusiastic year 5's, got up early this morning to brave the icy winter conditions to snap a rare photo of the super wolf blood moon, a phenomenon which will only appear again after many years to come. This particular event combines a supermoon with a lunar eclipse.

We had to reduce the image quality for the website, so the quality of the photo shown here may not do his actual photo much justice.

Year 3's visit the Roman Museum in Canterbury

Our year 3 's embarked on an exciting journey to Canterbury Roman Museum. It was an amazing trip which allowed the kids to immerse themselves into what Roman life would have been like and included wonderful learning opportunities like testing out spoon catapults, grinding wheat and coin making!
