From the Desk of the Headteacher
Welcome back to a new term and a New Year. For me this time of year is always a bit of a watershed – looking forward to the future and also looking back.
It marks a special time for me when I started here at St. Stephen's Junior on the 3rd January 1990! Quite a few years ago I had initially intended to stay for just a few years. How our life plans change in so many ways. On my first day here I was presented with an oak tree which we planted and, like our school, it has certainly grown. The school and the surrounding areas have seen quite a few changes, the building itself has got much larger and we now offer so much to so many children, for example our nursery, breakfast and after school clubs.
At the start of the New Year we remind our children of our core values: Independence, Respect, Creativity and Care. We try our very best to make this a great school by giving children every opportunity to develop the skills and the mind-set to be successful in their lives.
We believe that children are children and they need that opportunity to grow into caring, creative, respectful and responsible citizens. With this in mind our core value this month is responsibility; responsibility for themselves, their health, their belongings, their thoughts and behaviour towards others, and we ask all children to find opportunities to show this and record it in their school journals.
We wish you all a Happy New Year and look forward to working with you in 2017.
