PE and Sports
St. Stephen’s Junior School has selected 10 year 6 pupils to be sports mentors. The role of a sports mentor is to be helpful at break and lunch time by running activities other pupils can take part in. They play a key part by acting as role models for lower school pupils to encourage participation in school sport. Sports mentors meet with Mr. Gough every week to plan and discuss sport at lunch times and break times.
Quotes from our sports mentors stating why they think being sports mentor is an important role in school:
“I think being a sports mentor is important because you can understand the game in more depth”
“For me a sports mentor means being responsible and a role model to other children”
“A sports mentor means I can be a role model while being involved in a sports game”
