Extended Schools Behaviour Policy
The aim of this policy is to ensure that all children, parents and staff are aware of the behaviour expectations and discipline procedures within the Extended School Clubs. It is very difficult to define all situations which may happen within either Club. The principle essence of this should however be both recognised and respected. All children have the right to be within a calm, orderly and safe atmosphere created by a secure environment. Consistent with this belief and with the School Behaviour Policy, the Breakfast Club and After School Club has adopted a policy of encouraging positive behaviour according to the following guidelines:
- A small number of rules are understood by all those connected with the school and reinforced on a regular basis.
- If these rules are broken, there are set procedures for discipline and parents are informed and consulted.
Staff and children will negotiate and agree a set of positive Breakfast Club and After School Club rules at the beginning of each school year and these rules will be displayed at all times. They should be easy to understand and apply and should be reviewed regularly, at least once each term. These rules support the School rules and children are expected to behave as they would do in school. If inappropriate behaviour is identified, especially if this behaviour contravenes health and safety issues, exclusion from the Breakfast Club or After School Club will be considered.
Every opportunity should be taken to praise all children for good behaviour and good work.
Rewards can take many forms and be tailored to meet the needs of individuals.
These may include verbal praise and recognition, certificates rewarding behaviour, improvements in behaviour and showing Care, Consideration and Courtesy to their friends and staff.
