Visit to the Houses of Parliament
On Monday 9th October, the School Council visited The Houses of Parliament as part of our work on British Values. Following a workshop on Democracy and a tour of the buildings we had the pleasure of meeting our local MP for Canterbury, Rosie Duffield. The children had the opportunity to ask her questions and find out what it is like to represent large groups of people. Hopefully, they will be able to put into practise some of the things that they learnt!
It was a really interesting day with plenty of highlights. Here are some of those chosen by our school councillors:
Maja "I really liked being in the big hall and looking at the art."Amelia "The train journey and seeing all the gold."Xavier and Jemima "Meeting Rosie Duffield our MP."Cameron "Walking around London seeing the sights and the workshop".Lucy "Being in the room simulator and learning about how Parliament works".Louie "Being in the buildings and seeing how fancy and expensive the buildings are."Sonja "The whole day!"Bea " Learning about its history and the famous people who were once there.”
